After School Social Skills Groups
Now being offered through ARRO, with clinical consultation from Benjamin Hillyard, M.ED LCMHC
OPEN HOUSE: WEDNESDAY JANUARY 9th from 3 to 5 p.m., at 30 linden St. Exeter.

ARRO is proud to announce a new Social Skills program developed to help children with social deficits. This program will work with your child to learn the social communication skills necessary for daily life situations. Our children will be placed in groups according to age and ability levels. Student/teacher ratio will be no more then 4:1.

Groupings:
· Younger children will benefit from our play group model, where they will learn interactive play skills. Sample themes include: eye contact, greetings, turn taking, following directions, structured play, and accepting no.
· Older children will move into a more focused, cognitive thinking group. Based on the teachings of Michele Garcia Winner, this group will encompass the essential skills of Social Thinking®. Sample themes include; developing friendships, being part of a group, dealing with anxiety, using eye contact to interpret thought and emotion, self organization and problem solving.
· Parent Involvement: Parents are expected to attend the last 10 minutes of each session, to explore the new ideas learned during the group time. Parent participation is essential to the child’s outcome.

Further information: All groups will occur on Wednesday afternoons. The groups will run in 6 week sessions. The cost per session is $275.00. Families are invited to register during the open house on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
