When children turn 18 they are considered young adults for many legal purposes; yet an eighteen-year-old with Asperger Syndrome may not be as mature as a neurotypical eighteen-year-old. What can parents do to ensure their ability to continue to play an active role in the lives of their young adult children with AS, and protect their futures? We will address issues of release forms, guardianship, wills, special needs trusts, and applying for social security.
