Overview of the Organization
The Family Planning Association was founded in 1956 by Dr. Beric Wright with the support of the then Shell Petroleum Company Limited. Within a few months of his arrival, Dr. Wright set up the first family planning clinic. In 1961, the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago became the thirty-second member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the second largest volunteer movement in the world.
