Current Activities/Services
Clinical Services
Sexual and reproductive health care services are generally in keeping with
the overall national goals and policies/objectives. Except for
contraceptive delivery, these services are primarily diagnostic and
referrals are made for follow-up investigation and treatment. The
Association recognizes the importance of gender equity and has introduced
programs specifically for men.
A reproductive health care service to eleven disadvantaged/underserved
communities is provided through the "FPA Express." This community
outreach program is conducted by the Association in collaboration with the
government and non-governmental organizations and includes health and
family life education and skills training. This strategy serves to
empower women to make informed decisions about their sexual and
reproductive health and their livelihood. The Association strongly feels
that this program will assist with the overall poverty eradication drive
of the government. The following services are offered through the FPA
Express:
Training to Government Presonnel
Over the last sixteen years the Association has provided training in
family planning methods and sexual and reproductive health care to six
hundred and thirty eight government medical personnel.

The Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago operates two
clinics in Trinidad. One is located in Port of Spain and the other is
located in San Fernando. In Tobago, the Association operates a clinic in
Canaan with a weekly session at the Scarborough Health Center.
Owing to the tight local and international economic climate, the
Association has to depend more and more on local and internatinal
fundraising effors and project proposal development efforts have
intensified. Expansion of services can only be financed by sourcing funds
through the presentation of project proposals to funding agencies and
