back

I received my degree in music, which obviously validates my sense of self-worth and my love of music (just kidding). Anyway, here are the most recent music purchases I've made. In the upcoming months I might even add music that I've created. Oh yeah, mix it up a little.

Cantaloupe Island
Herbie Hancock

This is the Blue Note reissue of the original album. Of course, the feature track is the genesis of US3's Cantaloop, or whatever that hip-hop dance track was a few years back. Herbie's version is much more laid back. There is a lot of groove, funk, and ostinato in many of these pieces. He seems particulary of the key of F as well. Fortunately, "F" is not the saddest of all keys. I'm embarrassed that I didn't own this album earlier, and I strongly recommend it for those jazz fans.

Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow
Ah yes, the follow up to her debut album. There is something extremely compelling about both Sheryl's music and looks. And I'm sure she knows that we all feel that way. I'm tormented by the fact that I like popular music because as a GenXer, I'm supposed to rebel against all that is commonly accepted. But what the hell, it's great music. And Sheryl, grrrrr.
