Art Gallery Since the time it was published Dante's Divine Comedy has been the source of inspiration for many painters, sculptors, and other artists. Here is a sampling of some paintings based on the comedy. As you look at these pictures, pay close attention to how the characters of Dante and Virgil are depicted. What are their physical positions?
