So, you're thinking "What's the big deal about a Ford Contour?" Well, there really isn't much of a big deal if you're an 80 year old grandmother with no depth-perception and a severe bodily hair loss. But, for the rest of us (and especially for freaks like members of the Contour Enthusiast Group) the Contour was probably the best handling and best made car in the Ford line-up from 1995-2000.
The Contour was designed, tested, and developed in Europe to be Ford's "World Car"; a car for all markets with crisp performance, affordability, and style in a decently sized package. The first year of European production was in 1993 as the Ford Mondeo, and the Mondeo name still lives on as a redesigned sporty sedan. Of course, Americans with their eyes set on the biggest and ugliest four-wheeled vehicles available, dumped on the Contour and opted for SUVs instead. Now the Contour is dead, but I still "got the love."
Below are some pics of my CSVT, dressed in Torreador Red (paint code FL) with Midnight Blue leather undergarments. I hope to update this site often with more pics, so check back soon!
| Pic - Falling in love. Here's my SVT about 2 weeks before I bought it. Only 31,501 miles on the clock! |
Pic
- Another pic on the dealer's lot. This dealer really didn't know what
to do with the car since he mostly sold heavy trucks. |
Pic
- An interior shot showing the MNB interior. I have since made some minor
changes... |
Pic
- A pic from the top. Not much to show here, but to document the overall
shape of the car. |
Pic
- The front stance. CSVTs have a different front and rear bumper from
the factory. I believe all CSVTs were assembled in Kansas. |
| Pic
- CEG in action at Fun Ford Weekend 2002, Epping, NH. We had a great line-up
of Contours, Mystiques, and Cougars. |
Pic
- Another shot of the CEG representin'! |
Pic
- My CSVT showing off its mostly stock 195 HP Duratec V6. My only mod
so far is a Ford Europe Dual-Mode Damper crank pulley. |
Pic - Here's a shot of my audio enhancements. Polk dB Series 5.25" coaxials in the doors and some thump in the trunk. | Pic - Another interior shot featuring the Pioneer DEHP6000 head and changer in the glove box. A Bel Vector 880 keeps me on my toes and now a B&M does the shifts. |
Pic - I WON! My silly award for "Best in Class" at the 2002 Bonnell Ford SVT show. "I'd like to thank all the little people..." |
Pic
- A nice Fall shot of the car at Mount Wachusett. |
Pic
- Another CEG event to Mount Wachusett in October 2002. |
Pic - Sadly, the CSVT saw snow twice this winter. I was able to use a beater until March, but of course Winter decided to snow until April. | Pic - Is it Spring yet? I don't care, I'll Zaino anyway. There are only 3 kinds of beads worth photographing and here's one example. |
My Contour is actually one of a limited production run tuned by Ford's Special Vehicles Team (SVT). SVT is responsible for other cars that make insurance agents whizz like the Cobra Mustang and Lightning F150.
