For immediate release (11-Oct-2004)

NEWTON – The Baron’s Players, a locally based Elizabethan acting troupe, will present one of William Shakespeare’s classic tragedies, MacBeth, on Nov. 5 and 7 in the Little Theater at Newton North High School. Tickets are $10 for adults and five for students, and showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Shakespeare’s tale of betrayal and madness is one of his most commonly studied plays, and school groups are especially encouraged to attend. A discount is available for a chaperone with groups of 10 or more.

The Baron’s Players will present the play with minimal sets, relying on the graphic beauty of the words and the skill of the performers to bring the play to life. The group has been actively presenting Shakespeare plays for the last six years, and previous performances have included A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Taming of the Shrew and The Tempest. The play will be done in the round.

Clark Wright of Framingham is the director, and Kathryn Gandek-Tighe of Arlington is the assistant director. Both are experienced directors with the group. MacBeth and Lady MacBeth are also performed by veterans of Baron’s Players productions, Michael Drain of Malden and Catherine Crow of Ashland.
