Employee email list
Bendesky Computer Company, Inc.

Sorry. I don't have a computer company.

However, I do have a list of bogus email addresses for my non-existant computer company. Go ahead, click on one of the links at left. See the mail box pop up? Notice that the address is made up of gibberish. Even Jar-Jar Binks couldn't understand it ... and neither can a computer program—and that's the point.

I'm sure you've gotten some unsolicited email from someone you don't know, telling you of some fantastic money-making opportunity that awaits. [Yeah, right. If his scheme really made money fast, he'd be drinking Champagne on his yacht in the Bahamas, not sitting at his computer sending email to people he doesn't even know.] And I'm sure you've gotten so many of these "incredible offers" that they clog up your email inbox. Maybe your AOL inbox voice should say, "You've got SPAM."

Unsolicited email is often refered to as SPAM, perhaps because it looks like something real, but unwanted once you get close to it. The person sending this electronic equivalent of junk mail is called a Spammer. [A brief history of SPAM can be found in Lesson 9 of Patrick Crispen's Internet Roadmap]

So how did the Spammer get your address in the first place? If you have a webpage, or if you signed someone's guesbook, or if you posted a message on a bulletin board, you probably put down your email address. So your email address is somewhere on the World Wide Web.

Programmers have created programs that "crawl" the web and collect email addresses. The programs recognize an email address because the format always includes the @ symbol and usually ends with .com  or .net  or .edu. Then the program puts all those collected email addresses into a database and the Programmer sells them to a Marketer, who then sends his junk email to you — and ten thousand other people, too.

So what can one man do, my friends? You can do what I did here. You can use SPAM BAIT CREATOR to create lots and lots of meaningless email addresses. Post them on a website. Soon enough your page will be visited by the Evil Programmer's program. The bogus [and therefore worthless] email addresses will be picked up. Now when a Marketer buys the list, there's lots of worthless information in it. The more worthless the information, the less valuable it is. The less valuable it is, then fewer spammers want it. Fewer spammers ... less Spam.

Give it a try. It's PAYBACK TIME !

Heck, I don't even care if you copy this entire page and put it on your own site. Just be sure to change a letter in each address so that your bogus addresses will be unique.

Below is the documentation that comes with Spam Bait Creator, as well as FTP links to get the program itself. Get the program, run it and load the results onto your home page. Then let marketers collect thousands of meaningless email addresses while you sleep. Get the Internet working for YOU.

Spam Bait Creator 1.0

What is Spam Bait Creator?

This program automatically creates a web page containing a user specified number of random mailto: links. Once created the user places the generated html page on their web server and then links to it from their main web page.

What is the purpose of Spam Bait Creator?

Some Internet spammers have programs that constantly search web sites for email addresses. With these collected email addresses the spammer will send junk email or sell the address to other spammers. When one of these programs encounters a web page created by Spam Bait Creator it will save the fake email addresses into the email address database. Spammers do not have the time to weed out the fake email addresses by hand. The more fake email addresses that get into the spammers database, the less desireable the database becomes. The less desireable the database, the less people will buy the database from the spammer. The less people that buy the database, the less spam will be sent out.

Who should use Spam Bait Creator?

Anyone who has a webpage and hates spammers should use Spam Bait Creator. Usage of this program provides some satisfaction that you may be causing some headaches for spammers.

How do I use Spam Bait Creator?

Unzip the archive into a directory on your hard disk. There is no installation program. Run the program by double clicking on the icon. Enter the number of bogus email addresses that you want to create and click the "Generate HTML File" button. A "Save As" dialog box appears that lets you save your html file. Once the file is saved then upload the file to your web site and make a link to it from one of your main pages. If the program complains about a missing dll then you probably need to download the file mfc42a.zip available from one of the following locations:

ftp://ftp.the.net/mirrors/ftp.winsite.com/pc/win95/programr/mfc42a.zip

ftp://ftp.orst.edu/pub/mirrors/ftp.winsite.com/pc/win95/programr/mfc42a.zip

ftp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/systems/ibmpc/win95/programr/mfc42a.zip

Once you have downloaded the file extract the dlls and place them in you Windows\System directory.

How do I support Spam Bait Creator?

You can support Spam Bait Creator by using it! Creating bogus mailto pages will help everyone by causing headaches for spammers. The second way to help is to visit my web page at http://www.poboxes.com/psheedy/ and click on the banner advertisement. That will let me know that people are actually using the program! Also, if you run a web site and would like to generate a few extra dollars then go over to http://www.cyberthrill.com/ and become an advertiser for them. When you sign up then let them know that I referred you.

If you have any questions or comments then please email me at psxburn@hotmail.com
or visit the web site at
http://www.poboxes.com/spambaitcreator/
