Info Sticker |
Triage places an informational sticker on all of the records we service. An
example is shown below. The sticker is divided into two parts: the raw data
and the review. The raw data provides all the information someone would
need to track down the record: artist, title, catalog number, label, label
contact info, etc. It clearly spells these items out so there can be no
confusion which could arise from unclear or obscure packaging. The review
portion isn't always meant to be the definitive statement about the record.
It is just a few lines that provide some reference point for the music
director, d.j., buyer or clerk who might not have heard about the artist
before. The goal of the review is simply to pique the interest of the
person reading it so they will listen to the record and form their own
opinion. The review sticker is generally written with the input of the
client/label. Any profanities are also listed on the sticker to speed the
processing of the record and alert d.j.s to tracks that might conflict with
station or F.C.C. policies.
These GIFs might not be easy to read, so the text is underneath.

Never failing to deliver the absolutely best funk sound this side of the
60's, Desco does it again! The intro track says it all. Known as "Little
J.B.", Fields wails it out in the most funk-convincing manner since "Big
J.B."! All the funky drums, brassy horns, punchy keyboards, throbbing bass,
soul guitar, et al you expect from a Desco LP. Add that to Fields'
soul-from-the-gut vocals and authentic style and you've got a dangerously
addictive sound. Don't miss trks 2, 3 (take that Prez.!), 6 (organ trip),
7, 9 (you will move!). All clean, all funky. |

Sprawl is much more than a label, it's a whole scene! And si-{cut}.db is at
the center. People who have been involved with Sprawl either producing,
remixing, recording (or performing at their weekly event in London) include
Shenton (Add N To X), Scanner, Momus, Stereolab, Jimi Tenor, Sarah
Cracknell (St Etienne), Andy Weatherall, Ken Ishii - the list goes on! This
3rd LP by si-{cut}.db will appeal to those who dig textural electronic
music with varied beats. Though RPM friendly, this goes way beyond 'dance
music'. Check trks 10, 2, 4, 9. All instrumental, clean. |
