What are Literature Circles?
These are valuable sites that explain everything
about literature circles, including teacher and student roles, with descriptions
of each job and recording templates. Also has tips on how to make discussions
work!
Bartleby -
Great Books On-Line
Bartleby is a searchable database for literature - by author,
title, subject or verse. Also has 65,000 quotations, 70 volumes of the Harvard
Classics, the Columbia Encyclopedia, Biographies, etc. It's a fabulous reference
site.

Random house has listed several themes, topics, and other
connections appropriate for class work and discussion of novels that
they publish. The Thematic Connections in each guide contain
activities related to the individual title which can also be used to
extend beyond the book.
There are not a lot of titles here but each one has a brief
description of the novel or play, a list of its related readings, and
a link to its individual study guide. Each study guide includes
background information and reproducible activity pages for students.
To view the guides, you will need Adobe® Acrobat®
Reader version 3.0 or later.
Students can work with popular children's writers to learn how to
write in a particular genre. Seminars include News Writing, Biography
Writing, Folktale Writing, Journal Writing, Mystery Writing, Myth
Writing, Poetry Writing and Writing a Book Review. Page is maintained

Mike Eisenberg and Peter Milbury, owners, and by other international
K-12 librarians. The reading lists are part of a librarian

CyberGuides for Reading/Language Arts - "CyberGuides are supplementary,
web-based units of instruction centered on core works of literature. Each CyberGuide
contains a student and teacher edition, objectives, a task and a process by
which it may be completed, teacher-selected web sites and a rubric." This is
a wonderful site for teachers using a literature approach to reading. It is
broken into grade levels and also has a bilingual component.
This is the J.K. Rowling Teacher Resource File from the Internet School Library
Media Center. You will find biography, lesson plans, criticism and other resources
for teachers here.
Here's a site where you can download the Harry Potter font. It's
a great look for projects, signs, printouts, etc.
