The Annual
Iditarod Dogsled Race
The first link is the official website for the yearly Iditarod Race
- great for following the action each year and a great reference for mapping
and math lessons. The second link below is a Thinkquest Jr. Website with
the history, resources and related links to the Iditarod and Alaska in
general - suitable for grades 3 and up.
The
Great Race: From Anchorage to Nome
The year is 1925. Serum must get to Nome within six days to save

St.
Patrick's Day - March 17
There are many links to St. Patrick's Day in the holiday sites
we've listed in NetNotes previously, but this site is worthy of inclusion
by virtue of the great activities for kids - from making rainbows to decorative
crafts and cards, interactive games, trivia quizzes and on-line leprechaun
stories. An emerald of a site with Ireland links too!
Another great site about St. Patrick's Day and
Ireland with interesting information for adults and kids alike. In the
"Computer Goodies" link, you can download screen savers, backgrounds,
clip art, midi files and all things Irish to spiff up your personal computer
or webpages.
This is a collaborative model educational site
that offers interdisciplinary (English, Math, Science and Social Studies)
activities around St. Patrick's Day and the study of Ireland - geared
for grades 3 to 8 - very nice.
