Rebecca's Opinion of the First Continental
Congress
Rebecca is a midwife. She helps women in childbirth.
"I hear the talk. People are saying that we need to send a strong message
to King George. We must be seen as united in our resolve to have the right to
self-govern. My friend Abigail
Adams confides that her husband John has joined other colonial leaders to
meet in Carpenter
Hall in Philadelphia. They are drafting a petition to the King to end the
Intolerable Acts and give the colonies the respect that they deserve.
Great minds are at work - George Washington, Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry,
just to name a few. I admire their wisdom, and of course their courage in standing
up to the Crown! Perhaps they will inspire all colonists to think of themselves
as Americans, rather than separate colonies. One can only pray for their safety
and success."
