Susannah's Opinion of the Second Continental Congress
Susannah is the wife of a wealthy Boston merchant
"The 'secret' meeting of a Continental Congress in Philadelphia
is no secret, and nothing short of treason! This assembly doesn't even have
the right to meet. King George is correct in stating that the colonies are in
rebellion. And to think this illegal Congress has the nerve to form an army!
Don't they realize that England is the greatest military power on Earth? The
King's men are large in number, highly trained and well supplied. The rag-tag
assortment of Patriot farmers have no military experience,
no leadership and no hope.
It's not too late for this Congress to come to their senses and work towards
a peaceful solution. The thought of more bloodshed makes me ill. No more death
- no more talk of war!"
