Every campers needs are different. As you collect your gear check off each item as you pack. When planning your trip the following list should be of some assistenance.
Reservations
Reserve campsite in advance, remember all the best sites go first.
Shelter & Bedding
Tent and tent stakes. Sleeping bag. Pillow. Sleeping pad. Pillow. Axe or hammer to pound tent stakes. Ground Cloth-Tarp for big tents. Cot optional to sleep & keep thing off the tent floor.
Lighting/Fire
Maglight for each person(extra batteries!). Gas lantern (and/or electric). Lighter. Spare batteries and bulbs. Spare lantern fuel and mantles. Hatchet or ax folding or bow saw
Medical
Sunscreen. Bug Repellent (Deep woods off). Citronella candles. Tylenol, Advil, Bufferin. Alka Seltzer, Tums, ext. Poison Oak remedies-Special soap, antihistamine creams. Tweezers for splinters & ticks. Antiseptic, bandaids and bandages. First Aid Kit(may include some or all the above items).
Cleaning & Personal Items (All personal items should be kept in there own travel bag. There may times you have to walk to showers)
Bar Soap. Washcloth. Shampoo. Toothpaste & toothbrush. Comb or hair brush. Tampons/pads Razor. Towels. Toilet paper.
Cooking (Reusable and Consumables)
Stove with extra fuel. Newspapers for lighting a campfire Firewood (Hauling from home wood will be cheaper). Charcoal Frying Pan (2 if you can/Nonstick w/pastic spatula) Cooking skewers (for hotdogs, smores. ect.) Pot or sauce pan. Can opener. Tongs. Coffee maker and filters, tea bags. pot holders. Wine opener. Tablecloth with hold downs. Plates & silverware.Paper plates can be burned. Mugs and cups. Mixing bowl. Scrub pad. Paper towels & napkins. Trash bags. Paper plates,cups, bowls, etc. Plastic knives,forks,spoons. Ziplock Bags. Aluminum Foil.
Clothing, (The following are a must, but plan to pack for your length of stay)
Rain gear.(pants and top) Shower shoes and or beach shoes. Hiking boots. Works gloves. Socks. (feet should alway be dry) Swim suit .
Miscellaneous
Small shovel. Army knife. Compass and Map Fishing gear and license. Duct &/or electrical tape. Sewing kit. Camera w/good battery and extra film. Camcorder w/good battery and extra tape. Book, radio, cards, games, toys (for rainy days) Money, Credit cards, ID. Dental floss, (great for to sew holes in tent, bags. etc.)
Food
Plan out your meals ahead of time, so there is minimal waste, an space to packing.
