Here are a few views of my GP30. There aren't any new techniques here. The only detail that even approaches innovative is the way the 6-wide top is connected to the 5-wide body. As you can see, there are inverted slopes one brick from the top. The bottoms of the inverted slopes are connected to a plates, and the plate is connect to 1x2-with-center-stud plates. The center-stud-plates are connected to the 5-wide body. The gap that forms is filled using 1x2 thin walls. When I have time I'll post a ".dat" file and some pictures of the construction details. You might notice from the image on the right that it isn't quite a perfect fit. In practice the design works well even though it isn't a perfect fit. The vent in the middle of the radiator bulge is a technic wheel hub with a crown gear in the middle. Here is an LDRAW ".ldr" file that I recently completed (gp30.dat). I used LDGLite for OS X to make this model, so I need to send a big thank you out to Don Heyse for porting Paul Gyugyi's LDLite to OpenGL and to Mac OS X! Check www.ldraw.org for all your LDRAWing needs! |
