This is the trolley car known as the City of Manchester. As a fan of trolley cars, I decided that I would tackle the job of designing a trolley prototype for the LEGO Millyard Project hosted at the SEE Science Center. Now I just need to design a car that can be mass produced. After all, this trolley is supposed to be one of a kind. The City of Manchester is a trolley car from Manchester, New Hampshire. In its day, it was a private trolley car owned by the Vice President of the Rapid Transit Company. The trolley ran in the streets of Manchester around the turn of the last century. Luckily, this trolley car was not lost to history. It has been restored and it runs the rails at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport Maine. This represents a few firsts for me. It is my first 8-wide trolley, in fact, it is 8 studs wide and 30 studs long, and it is my first creation with a tiled roof. There is nothing wildly new here construction wise, but I am really happy with the result. This trolley is version 2.0, and thanks to some help from my friend Teddy, all of the wrong colored "place holder" parts have been replaced. Also new to version 2.0 are some special features. Special features on this trolley include curtains, working headlights, and a lamp in the tolley car. I hope you like it. |
