Game 109 - Congratulations to Michael Schulz, on his 1st WC victory! (and a wild one it was!!) Mike snuck in and snagged this one whilest ol' enemies, players B and E tussled over their turf! Player B, Ken Dubois had this game wrapped up about 20 turns ago, when he decided to take Player E's city for the win... YEOW!!! What a hornets' nest he stirred up! Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Mike (remember him, the guy who won) went about building up his forces for the final push! This game lasted 66 turns! GREAT GAME MIKE!!!!!!!!
Game 112 - Congratulations to Scott Edmonds, Cale Synder, and John Brickner on their team (3 man teams) victory! This is Scott and Cale's 1st victory, and John 2nd! This game had some of the funniest player messages and great spirit! Good game guys!
Game 130 - Congratulations to Tom Berendt and Jim Jagy for their victory! This is Toms first win and Jims' second! They managed to survive the counterattacks from their neighbors, who mobilized too slowly to be effective!
Game 132 - Congratulations to Ed Kundrat for his first WC victory! Ed secured his territory early and never had to fight on anything but his own terms...
Game 133 - Congratulations to Mike Kelly for this hard-won victory! Mike has an epic position with almost 350 units... as his opponents can attest to! Well done Mike!
Game 134 - This was TOM BERENDT's 4th, yes, *FOURTH* victory, winning him 177 Victory Points! Tom moves up in the overall WC rankings to the 10th best player in WC history!
Game 139 - Congratulations to Mike Kwan and Jim Pelton for their first WC victory! The victors eliminated and rolled over some of the finest competition we've seen in WC! The new WC player rating system will reflect their awesome feat! Great game guys!
Game 144 - Congratulations to Charles Turner, for his 2nd WC victory! This game had a wild finish! Charles Turner and Antonio Osborn both reached 12 cities on the same turn. This is only the third time we've had to utilize the tiebreaking procedures (Number of cities, villages, then buildsteps)! Utilizing our tiebreaking procedures, it was determined that Charles had in fact triggered the EOG Warning by merit of having more villages... In order to prolong the game, Charles would have had to lose a city. This didn't happen, soooooooo.... Good game guys!
Game 145 - Congratulations to Charles Turner on his third WC win! With each of Charles' WC wins, his playing tactics get stronger! This game went over 40 turns - we started calling it "The Clash of the Titans". Five players died during this game. Great victory Charles!
Game 147 - Congratulations to Jim Goss and Leon Horne for this victory. Both Jim and Leon now have 2 WC victories!
Game 149 - DEAN GREGG came out from the back of the pack to win this game going away. Dean started as a relative novice against a very strong field to win 318 Victory Points. He chose the time and the place for battle. Excellent end game, Dean!
Game 150 - JASON PICCONE and JASON PICCONE shared 359 Victory Points in this fine MODERN WORLD CONQUEST team victory! Jason and Jason came from nowhere (that's what his parents said) to steal this victory for their own! What we want to know is.... Which Jason is the clone?
Game 151 - TOM ADDISON will hereafter be known as, yes, MR. INFANTRY! Tom earned 142 VPs by managing to hang onto his 12th city, despite the gallant efforts of his persistant neighbors. Never before have infantry been so singlemindedly used, prompting a midgame message, that a unit of Toms, that was NOT infantry had been spotted. The reporter was quickly branded as dilusional by his fellow players. This is a CLASSIC example of the old axiom that states; "It's not how many buildsteps you have, but how you use 'em..."
Game 152 - Congratulations to Dan Fonnesbeck and Frank Riskey (team game)! This is their 1st victory, and a fine was it is!! Frank is an 'ol grizzled WC veteran who has nibbled around the victory circle several times, but this time he hit the bullseye! Dan, his partner, has never played a PBM game before - so his record is perfect! (so far...) Good game gentlemen; you've beaten some of the best players WC has to offer!
Game 155 - Congratulations to Charles Turner and Antonio Osborne for this huge team victory! It's been a long time since I've seen such overwhelming forces generated in one game! Huge battle forces without any equal - awesome win guys!
Game 157 - Congratulations to Tony Sagona for his 7th!?! WC victory! Tony has
established himself as a true WC legend! For those of you who have played in one
of the seven games that Tony has won; you can truthfully say that you have been
beaten by the BEST!!! (We're not worthy; we're not worthy!
Game 158 - Congratulations to Pat Smith for his 4th WC victory! Pat came from
the middle of the pack as a standby player to win this game! Great victory Pat!!
Game 159 - Congratulations to Dom Gratale for his 1st WC victory!! Dom
steamrolled his way to this win by extinguishing the life from any who resisted!
Great game Dom!
Game 161 - Congratulations to Tom Berendt and James Jagy!! This is Tom's 2nd WC
victory, and James 4th!!! victory!! This team roared over their opponents like a
seasonal high tide... Well done Gentlemen!
Game 162 - Well, this is the game that was. Two players burst the 12 city
barrier at the same time, but JON WOOLDRIDGE scooped 197 VPs by being the
first'est with the most'est. Jon now has 4 WORLD CONQUEST wins! Are we looking
at another Ace?? Condolences go to Chris Knapp, whose 12 cities would have won
any other game.
Game 163 - Congratulations to Eric Moses on his 2nd WC victory!! Eric managed to
stay one city ahead throughout much of the game of another ol' WC warhorse, Pat
Smith. Great tenaciousness Eric!!
Game 164 - Congratulations to Paul Laurell for his 1st WC victory! Paul had one
of the more interesting end games I've seen, in that he had a battle force
capable of taking cities on all fronts - and he managed to do that to trigger
the EOG Warning! Great end game Paul!
Game 165 - Congratulations to Corey Thomas, for his 1st WC victory! Corey never
slowed down in this game, and only 99'ed once or twice during game...
Game 168 - KEN BROWN managed to persevere over some of the best WORLD CONQUEST
players earning himself 168 Victory Points. This game proved, once again, that
good tactics, sound strategy and skillfull diplomacy are the keys to victory.
Game 170 - Congratulations to Jeff Buck for his 1st MWC victory!! Jeff managed
to baffle his opponents towards the end of the game, rolling over their broken
backs! Great game Jeff!
Game 172 - CHRIS LEVELTON & IAN McCANDLISH split 360 VPs for their first WC
victory. This is another win for the Canadians. They took an early lead and
never looked back. What is it that makes these Canadian players so tough? The
beer? The weather? Whatever it is, we're glad they're playing.
Game 174 - GREG MILLER caught a couple of his unsuspecting neighbors with their
proverbial pants down... A lesson that has been taught in more than one game, I
can tell you. This was worth 251 Victory Points to Greg and he says he's just
begun...
Game 176 - CHRISTIAN THESING squeezed out 131 VPs in this game with an epic
finish! When the victory conditions were met and the EOG sounded, Bob Laventure
also had 12 cities. Christian, however, had ONE MORE village and it was
determined that he was the player to trigger the EOG Warning! If both players
had tied in the number of cities and villages, buildsteps would be used to
determine the leader. Great win! Tough loss.
Game 180 - KIRK O'DWYER and SAMUEL WALLIS effectively used the sledgehammer
method to pound their opponents into submission. They had to kill off a 10 BAT
attack on the final turn to maintain their victory. 340 Victory Points were
shared by the winners. Kirk and Sam certainly deserved them.
Game 181 - BOB LAVENTURE overcame his disappointment in the outcome of 176, to
win the game dubbed 'BEAT THE REAPER!' by its players. One by one, the weak were
mercilessly driven from the game. The surviving players were roughly equal in
strength, but Bob built his core cities to 10 step Metropolis' and sent out
SPYs. By watching the enemy buildups, he knew where he could safely strike. They
never stood a chance. Bob's first win gained him 144 VPs. Way to go!
Game 182 - Congratulations to Corey Thomas on his second (2nd) WC victory in
about as many months!!! Corey has the prerequisite killer instinct that allows
for the unique knack of culling out the sheep from the flock... Maybe we should
call him.... Da Wolf... Ya, that's it...
Game 184 - THOMAS GRABLE used an unprecidented tactic in this, his 3rd and most
unique victory. Thomas built a spy for every city on the planet. He always knew
what was going on! Never before, in the history of WORLD CONQUEST, has this been
tried. Tom's daring ploy was worth 236 VPs. This was a game of joy and sadness.
It marked the passing of TOM BECKER from our midst. We'll never see his like
again.
Game 185 - 2 mighty teams, 6 players each, met in battle and the "A Team"
emerged with a crushing victory! "A Team" players TOM BERENDT, DAN DUVAL, JOHN
TANSEK, and DAVE TONKIN survived to divide up 400 Victory Points. Even with
early game attrition, the "A Team" managed to hold together to win by over a 2
to 1 margin!
Game 186 - STUART McNEIL and LARRY WARD gave us a fine example of how to win at
WC team play! Their first WC victory gave them 200 VPs to split.
Game 191- Congratulations to Larry Ward for this fine example of "how to do
it"!! Larry "Da Steamroller" Ward flattened anyone who got in his way, as
evidenced by the lopsided city/village count! Great victory Steamroller!!!
Game 192 - Congratulations to Eric Moses for setting the new record for the
earliest victory EVER in WC... 14 Turns!!! Eric was brutally efficient in
dispatching his opponents; he just wouldn't take no for answer! Great victory
Eric!
Game 196 - STEPHEN BUCHHOLZ managed to hang on to win 196 Victory Points despite
the concerted efforts of his neighbors! Special mention goes to Mike Perrotta
who ended the game with MORE cities than Steve! The player who triggers the EOG
wins if he/she hasn't lost a city, despite the good fortune of another player.
This situation has happened before in several other games, but it is not common.
