MOVEMENT IN WORLD CONQUEST

The theory behind movement is simple. As you move a unit across the map, the terrain type of the square moved into as well as that square's adjacent territories will be revealed to you. Recon aircraft and ground units that are on a mountain will explore out 2 squares rather than just the adjacent squares.

There are a few common-sense rules on movement of units on the map: Ground units may not enter Oceans, Naval units may not enter any all-land area, and Aircraft may not enter Mountain squares. All units can enter Production Centers and Rivers (both are considered to have enough land to support ground troop movement, as well as having enough water for naval units). Some units will have endurance penalties for moving into (or be restricted from entering into) particular terrain types. The edges of the world "wrap around" so movement off any map edge will bring you back on the opposite edge.

The listing of your current forces will list all the pertinent data on the condition of your units. The orders and their corresponding letter codes are as follows:

A - Do nothing

B - Move North-West (movement order)

C - Move North (movement order)

D - Move North-East (movement order)

E - Move East (movement order)

F - Move South-East (movement order)

G - Move South (movement order)

H - Move South-West (movement order)

I - Move West (movement order)

J - Jump to a square (PAR only)

L - Load a Unit

M - Map Square (SPY only)

P - Prepare to Load

Q - Defend

R - Strategic Redeployment

S - Shoot a Rocket (RKT only)

T - Take Endurance

U - Unload a unit

V - Gift unit to another player (Maximum of 1 per turn)

W - Place Fort/Airfield (Maximum of 2 per turn)

X - Form MEC or CAV unit

Only the 8 movement orders ("B" through "I") are counted against a units movement rate. For example, an INF unit could do 2 Take Endurance orders ("T") and then move 3 squares. Since the "T" orders are not movement orders, the INF would not get charged extra or early move penalties for these orders.
