2020 Covid–19 Notice        Home

To our Participants and friends:

Each summer, we look forward to spending time with our workshop friends and colleagues, old and new. Many have been with us for a decade and more, and the energy, enthusiasm, camaraderie, and love of chamber music you bring are our driving force. Due to the health risks of COVID-19, we made the decision in April to cancel all workshops for 2020. The activities that make them worthwhile and enjoyable necessarily rely on close contact, and the dorm-style housing is also problematic.

The faculty and I will truly miss our yearly exploration of musical masterworks with you this summer. Let us all hope that this horrible worldwide tragedy will be contained enough for us to resume in 2021 with a robust and renewed program. We look forward to that reunion, and for those of you who intended to join us for the first time this year, we hope you will re-apply and that we will meet you next year.

If your situation allows, we are accepting tax-deductible donations. We depend on participants’ fees for our financial health, and this year will be challenging. Your contribution will help to offset administrative costs that we have already incurred (brochure printing and mailing, venue planning, application processing, etc.) and will further our in-process projects, such as updating our web site to allow for online registration and the revamping our music library. Checks can be made out to:

In the meantime, please check back for updates, as we may be offering some virtual instruction this summer, and we hope to include some of our regular faculty members. The dates for 2021 will be posted as they become known.

Wishing you safety and wellness,

David Bakamjian, Director, Play Week & Summer String-In
