THE BEST OF THE MENSA WEB SITES:

These are what I have cherry picked as the best of Mensa web sites.  I went through all of the web sites that are linked through the National Mensa Site and from other Mensa sources that I have stumbled across and gotten permission (where necessary) so here they are.  I have included a few sites that are not specifically Mensa but do appear to fit our "pattern".  Please feel free to add to this list by emailing me your suggestions.  I too will be taking my own advice and submitting some of my favorite bookmarks for everybodies consideration.  Let's see if I can get past myself with these suggestions.  Most of the web sites on the National page are "personal web sites" and consist of personal bio's or resumes.  That's fine but not of much general  interest as a "Mensa Topic".

There is a sort of "subculture" within this bunch of Mensa websites and it is embodied in Webheads, which is the newslist of Mensa members who have web sites and are actively interested in Mensa on the web.  Obviously a goodly number of the participants in Webheads also are the webmasters of the pages that populate the list of "Mensa Web Sites".  If you operate a site (or are thinking about it) please subscribe to this newslist.  I have found it a marvelous two way street for M's helping other M's with their sites..

Richard Amyx  Not a bad site to start with.  Dick was our former National Chairman (five years ago) and stays in very good touch with what is going on.  Not politically oriented  but chock full of useful references such as having the AMC Constitution online as well as all of the Actions Still in Effect, he also carries the current AMC agendas and minutes.  What, of particular interest to me, was his handling of the Truelove "expulsion" (as National Hearings Officer).  He has posted, on his site, not only the hearings, but sound clips and visuals of the Truelove hearing (a great exposition of what was really going on with all of that mishagas).  If you wade through what Truelove had to say in his lawsuit (included) you will find some VERY INTERESTING allegations as to what our past national officers have been up to.

Marvin Cruzan  Lots of links to useful Federal offices,  great article on Einstein (I too support the idea that Einstein has feet of clay theorey),

Joseph Faith Great looking site.  Lots of useful links and lots of links to live webcams.

William Patterson One of the best sites for linking to all of the other web sites that deal with the "Higher IQ" groups.

Michael Pearce Lots of great stuff about Scientology (not a positive take),Waco, science and technology, MAC stuff. this is a passionate M who used to work at the LA Free Press, lots of "alternative links and info" including anti  AOL and Microsoft stuff.

Gary Posner  Good intro into Skeptical Inquiry and an intro into a skeptical approach to altenative medicine.

Dan Rich  On his "more info" it would be a challenge to find MORE info about anybody....sorry about the tease but this should give you a few interesting ideas.  Nice bottom scroll  of current news ala your nearest post office.

Sander Rubin  Former National Chairman of AML.  Contains a rich compendium of info about our history,...lots of Mensa links.  His analysis of where we have gone wrong at the top is dead on.  The problem being is that we simply cannot dwell on the past but we defintely need to deal with what is happening in 15 minute bites in the hear and now.

Jay Respler  Great Astronomy Site, opens on a current events page that is very impressive.  Also includes a Starmap...one of the best I've seen.

Harold Russel  Very eclectic and very interesting site, self made everything - I am envious. His "list of personal firsts"
begs copying.

Dean Scoville  A thinking and professionally literate cop.

Tom Streeter  Regularly published columnist in the Oracle, the newsletter of Orange County Mensa.

Dan Tobias   One of the best, wildest, most inventive thought provoking websites in Mensa.  My personal favorite.  Explore this one IN DEPTH.

Peter Veprek  Speech science technology (aka Speech Recognition) About as comprehensive a site on this subject as can be found.  This guy is very obviously an expert.

Robert Wittig  Very good artist making good use of a website.  Lots of artistic links.

Phi Yeh  Coordinator of the SFRM dotcom SIG.  A consummate professional, and his website show it.  Streaming audio/video.

Rich Erickson  Lots of high IQ links.

BiZarre Stuff   This site is an ever growing warehouse of the kinds of projects some of the more demented of us tried as young people.

D. Miller  Good general example of how a diary format can be used effectively.

Yahoo Webring.  Off the wall newslist.  Sort of a round robin chat.  I have not not personally tried this but will soon.

Mensans of the World Circle.  Another ring, similar to the one above.

A Short And Bloody History of the High IQ Societies  Good compendium and history of the High IQ Societies with links.

Windward  Mensa's only (to my knowledge) intentional community.  Read their journals here.
