Solstice Carol

Days are getting short,

Nights are getting long.

Days are getting short,

Nights are getting long.

‘Round the light we dance                                  Nights grow long, they grow so long.

As we sing our song.

Nights are getting long,

Days are getting short.

The Earth is so inclined in the sunnes shine,

The pole will point away and take the light from day.

a candle flame, a string of lights,

our little lights tear small holes

in the dark blanket of  Night

and through these holy holes of hope

comes the sun again, grows the sun again.

Days are getting short,

Nights are getting long.

Days are getting short,

Nights are getting long.

‘Round the light we dance                                  Days will grow, they'll grow again.

As we sing our song.

Nights are getting long,

Days will grow again.

The Earth is so inclined in the sunnes shine,

The pole will point away and take the light from day.

Autumn is automatic and summer sums up all the growth

that spring will bring,

but what if what if winter stops the sun,

wrenching the world's whirl to a halt?

a candle flame, a string of lights,

our little lights tear small holes

in the dark blanket of  Night

and through these holy holes of hope

comes the sun again, grows the sun again.

Days will grow, days grow again!
