Jan 1781 - Moses Broyle is a member of class #76 liable for military service in the Revolutionary War. He was not drafted. {A list of classes..}

Apr 1782 - He is named as eldest son and executor in his father's will. He inherits 200 acres of land his father had bought off Joseph Bullard, on the south side of the Little Limestone. Washington Co., Tenn. {Burgner, 1}

6 Feb 1794 - Moses Broyles of Madison Co., Va. appointed Stephen Fisher of Mercer Co., Ky. as his attorney concerning 800 acres entered by Joseph Early in Moses Broyles' name, on the Green River. {5JKB105}

10 Nov 1797 - Moses is granted 800 acres in Hardin Co., Ky., on the south fork of the Nolin River. {Jilson, Bk11:184} He apparently didn't follow up on this.

26 Apr 1804 - John Yager, Francis Ford, give bond for returning the inventory of Moses Broyles, dec'd. {5JKB105}

26 Sep 1805 - Moses' property is redistributed with Barbara getting 117 acres. The rest is divided into 4 45&1/2 acre sections. {5JKB105, 2JKB23}

- On the same date Barbara Broyle is appointed guardian of Nancy Broyle and Patty and Elizabeth Ford. The commissioners are to lay out her dower and share of the slaves of her dec'd husband Moses Broyle. The remaining slaves are to be divided into 4 parts, one to William Broyle, one to James Broyle, one to Nancy Broyle, and one to Patty and Elizabeth Ford. {2JKB25}

1810 - Barbara is listed as a head of household in the census of Madison Co., Va. She and a family of 5 slaves are all that are listed in the entry. {69:376}

1810 - Barbara is taxed for 117 acres. {5JKB105}

1812 - She was taxed for 117 and 118 acres, just bought from W. Carpenter. {5JKB105}

1814 - The land is described as 6 miles northeast of Madison courthouse. {5JKB105}

19 Jul 1816 - Barbary Broyles is listed in the deed book of Culpeper Co., but the entry is rather illegible. {2JKB20}

1820 - She is listed in the census of Madison Co., Va. {131:547}

1823 - She acquires 3 polls, then 2 in following years. Could it be her slaves? {2JKB16}

1830 - She is listed in the Madison Co., Va. census. {196:5}

17 Dec 1830 - Barbara sells 88 acres to son James Broyles. {2JKB20}
