The assignment of George and John as children of Frederick is based primarily on their ages in the census. The other North Carolina natives who could be sons of his are David (b. 1776) and Jacob (b. 1780), but because of their ages they seem to be sons of George, brother to Frederick.

The deeds listed below appear to show Frederick disposing of his lands to his sons and son-in-law. Analysis shows that he is left without any land in his own name. Given that he had another daughter, name not known, we must assume she has either died or moved from Randolph Co. by 1815.

20 Jan 1772 - Reverend George Soelle visited Conrad Briles' home. "On Thursday, the 20th, I came in heavy rain to Curtle Bryel's house. These people are the parents of the one who took his own life late last year because of pangs of conscience and fear...The aged mother took me aside and poured out the distress which she had been feeling for many a year...At the close I baptized the younger Bryle's little son, George, after I had made a statement about baptism." This last phrase appears to refer to son Frederick's son George. The first part of the account refers to son Michael's suicide in 1771. [76]

Dec 1784 - Frederick inherits the 'plantation' of 100 acres and 1/3 of the estate of his father. He is apparently the eldest surviving son. Randolph Co., NC. [91]

18 Aug 1787 - NC State Grant to Frederick Broils, 100 acres on Coally's Creek, Carraway Creek. [99]

20 Dec 1791 - The State grants (number 2139 at 50 shillings per 100 acres) to Frederic Bryal 200 acres on the east side of Hamby Creek next to Jacob Lop, crossing said Creek and Gasper Sprinkle. Book 16:656

27 Jun 1793 - NC State Grant to Frederick Broilses, (130?) acres on Caraway waters adjacent Sheppard. [99]

1799 - William Bethel sells 160 acres acres to Frederick. [100] 1800 - John Beckerdite sells 160 acres to Frederick. [100]

1810 - He is not found in the census, however, Ansel Pearce, who married his daughter Mary, has an elderly man and woman living with him. This is likely to be Frederick and his wife. [5]38:177

17 Dec 1814 - Frederick Briles sells to (his son-in-law) Ansel Pearce 320 acres. This was land which had previously been granted to Matthew Scott. [1]

19 Dec 1814 - Frederick sells two tracts of land to his son John. One tract contains 230 acres on both sides of Sheppard fork of Caraway, and the other contains 100 acres on the west side of the old tract. [1]

Aug 1815 - Frederic Briles of Randolph Co. lets George Briles of Rowan Co., NC, have 200 acres on both sides of Hambey's Creek next to Gasper Sprinker (?), also another 52 acres on Hambey's Creek next to Jacob Lop and Gasper Brinkle (?), for $500. wit: Ansel Pearce and John Briles. Proven this date. Book 20:476

1815 - He is not on the tax list of Randolph Co. His son John is taxed for about 1500 acres on the Uharie and Caraway. [101]

c. 1817 - A bond between William Bethel and Frederick Briles, dated 1799, is entered into the Randolph Co. deed books. [100] This suggests that Frederick has died.
