An Introduction To The Armchair Theological Society

What is the Armchair Theological Society?

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

The Armchair Theological Society is not a room full of theologians discussing the minute points of the nature of God. An Armchair Theologian is a Christian who has been taught by the Holy Spirit, but without a formal seminary training.  So, Armchair stands for the non-professional, theological is the study of God, and society is a community of like-minded people . . . or, a group of Christians who work in an nonchristian envirnment, and hunger after the knowledge of God as revealed in the Bible.

Why would I want to belong to the Armchair Theological Society?

Membership to The Armchair Theological Society will give you monthly sermons or books, a chapter at a time, from authors of the past. All files will be e-mailed to you in either the Acrobat format, which can be viewed with the Acrobat Reader* or in Envoy, a self contained document reader. Either format will allow printing of the files in their origional format.

At present we are working on the works of William Huntington and William Dyer; Huntington for the head and Dyer for the heart.  From time to time, we will also publish miscellaneous works of outstanding merrit.

*The Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program and can be downloaded at the Adobe Webb Page.

Is there a cost involved?

We suggest a donation of $1.00 per issue. After recieving your issue, you simply place one dollar bill in an envelope and mail it to The Armchair Theologian, P.O. Box 9090, Allentown, PA 18101-9090.

Faith may come by hearing, but "digitising" comes by works; and we know the workman deserves his hire.

May God the father, by the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ richly bless your heart with these forth coming works as much as it has blessed mine.
