PRACTICE SESSIONS: Thursday evenings seem to work the best.

There is no requirement to attend practice sessions as one or two practice rounds will be held before starting the Official Spelling Bee. Rules and Speller qualifications can be found at <http://www.spellingbee.com>.

The practice booklets you purchased in the past (use to be called Paideias, now called Spell It!) are available FREE online (click here). This interactive Web site features links to Merriam-Webster definitions and pronunciations, challenge words for advanced spellers, activities, and printable study lists.

Our one top speller is invited to participate in the County/Regional Spelling Bee at Lake Braddock High School in Burke, VA scheduled for 21 March 2009.

This is for grades K-8 (ages 5-14).

This event is open to all homeschoolers in Fairfax County and those homeschoolers that live outside of the county but participate in homeschooled activities in Fairfax County for at least 16 hours each week.

From Fairfax City:

· Take 123, Ox Road, south to Braddock Road.

· Turn left. Go east on Braddock Road 3.8 miles.

· Turn right on Rolling Road. Go 1 block.

· Turn right on Burke Lake Road.

· Go to the third building on the right.

· Turn right into the Kings Park Library parking lot.

From I95:

· Take I495 North toward Tysons Corner.

· Follow directions below for “From the Beltway”.

From the Beltway:

· Take Exit 54A (old Exit 5) West/Braddock Road. Go west on Braddock Road 1.7 miles to Burke Lake Rd.

· Turn left at the intersection, which has a traffic signal and 2 left-turn lanes.

· Go straight on Burke Lake Road through the traffic light at Rolling Road and continue to the third building on the right.

· Turn right into the Kings Park Library parking lot.

From the I66 East or West:

· Take Exit 60, Rt. 123, going south toward Fairfax.

· Follow Rt. 123, Ox Road, south to Braddock Road.

· Turn left. Go east on Braddock Road 3.8 miles.

· Turn right on Rolling Road. Go 1 block.

· Turn right on Burke Lake Road.

· Go to the third building on the right.

· Turn right into the Kings Park Library parking lot.
