Management Solutions

What We do

The Jacobs Group provides experienced software engineering management assistance including project management and creation of white papers, brochures and other technical material.

We can respond to your needs without delay, coming up to speed quickly on technical or management issues.

How We Can Help

You have an important project. You need an experienced project leader but can’t free up a employee. We can fill the short-term need.

You need a white paper to describe your product, but available writers lack the technical background to understand your product. Your development staff is working against tight deadlines to complete the product. They don’t have time to explain technical concepts to a writer.  Technical knowledge developed over our many years with a wide variety of products and technology enable us to quickly understand your product and produce a white paper with minimal help from your staff.

You have a group that isn’t performing. You believe the problem is lack of the proper engineering process. We can analyze the problems and recommend solutions based upon our experiences during
more than twenty years of engineering management.

You believe the current manager is unwilling to admit that some of the engineers he or she hired are not capable. We can assess the capabilities of the engineers and report to you.

You are preparing for an important customer presentation. You need someone who is technically knowledgeable but brings an outside perspective to point out where your presentation is not clear and to ask the types of questions a customer might ask.  We can act as that reviewer.

Client Projects

A small, startup software vendor had made a commitment to a customer, but the manager leading the project resigned; very soon the project began to slip. We were brought in to complete the project.  We created a well defined schedule and tracked it with accurate and honest reports for management. The product met the customer’s committed date with high product quality.

A large system vendor needed material for its website. A developer written piece was far too long and complex for customers to understand. We were brought in to shorten and simplify it while making clear the important points.

A high-priority trade show was approaching but employees were busy finishing up a new product release. We gathered the equipment, modified a demo program, tested the demo, packed the equipment and shipped it to the show site. Then traveled to the site, set up and retested the equipment.

A manufacturer retained a training development firm to produce customer training materials. New features added on the product’s second release made the materials out of date. Bringing back the original training developers to update the materials would be too expensive and take too long. We were brought in to update the materials. We also worked through the lab exercises and fixed numerous mistakes in the original training.
