"When their deep-fried wings get clipped,
can they keep the charcoal lit,
or will it turn to ice cream embers
as they remember yesterday?"

They found a low-rent one-room dwelling,
and she began to feel her belly swelling
By the time the baby came a few months later,
the wedding cake had been run through the grater

So the laundromat ladies and the football fellas
went to talk them out of staying together
but when they got to their door, they couldn't hear a word,
just a little sign saying "PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB"

Sometimes, they still fuss and squabble,
but they don't let it make their marriage wobble
They've got eight children and a couple of bank loans
There's not much money, but there's lots of backbone

They're glad they let their wings get clipped
The charcoal must've been counterfeit
The re-ignited ice cream embers
keep them warm in December and every day
