The Bridges Of Madison County |
There's A Bridge Now

I told the story of that day
in this poetic work.
Such sadness, I awoke to;
desolation, sure did lurk!
I felt such disappointment for
her presence seemed so real!
And closeness, she declared for us!
So hopeful, I did feel!
Then Lo! my eyes, they opened up.
Perceived just blueness, lots!
The hope I sensed was stolen, gone;
much sadness filled my thoughts!
This was our only get together
aft' that path she chose.
And any thought which brought her near
just triggered loss and woes!
Our contact, thus t'was none, 'cept for
that visit in my head.
For three years she was absent, gone;
between us, not one thread!
She chose the path and I just had
to let her go her way.
The pair we were had disappeared.
I felt such huge dismay!
Her absence in my heart, a scar
I couldn't just ignore!
I carried it, this heavy weight,
and it, so long, I bore!
But now the burden's vanished;
and the wound's no longer there!
A bridge is now between us;
I can contact her and share
| There is a land of the living and a land of the dead. |

And peace is present fin'lly;
it's so sett'ling to detect!
...can contact her, now fin'lly
and we once more can connect.
This path from me, was missing.
It is there now...feel so blessed!
...can visit, sense our closeness
at the grave where she does rest.
