I've Been Workin' On The Railroad

It'll Be OK!

  I've said this to my Bam Bam girl
so many times this year!
She hears a train--begins to shake!
She's overcome with fear!

Those sounds just trigger fright in her!
She's captured by this state!
Her eyes foretell there's panic felt;
her worries, now are great!

She's seized yes, by this circumstance;
the rumble is the spawn.
She can't perceive the train shall pass;
and soon it will be gone!

I always strive to comfort her
when this state comes her way.
I pat her side and softly speak,
"Relax...'twill be ok! "

"It's just a noise; a loud one yes!
but...doesn't mean--infer
that danger is approaching and
a crisis will occur."

The train's off in the distance;
it won't visit--cross our path!
The sounds, though have their impact!
She can't taste its aftermath!

But lo! the moment she gets through;
it's over soon, alas!
The air's then silent; all is calm.
The crisis, hence, did pass!

And though I know the sounds don't mean
that danger will appear;
to her it does and she reacts;
it's real, her sense of fear.

Perhaps, a lesson's here for me;
I know that all is well
but she can't feel this, she is scared;
her reflex, she can't quell!

And I know all is danger-free
but she can not this, sense;
her feelings tell her something's wrong;
her fright is real, intense!

Perhaps when mem'ries come my way,
which fills my heart with loss
and puts me in a place which seems
impossible to cross,

I can have faith that someone knows
that this is only noise!
So real, it seems but soon there'll come
a time containing joys!

And like the train which stirs things, so
alarm is here--arrived!
It will yes, pass; the peace returned--
serenity, revived!

My greyhound's fears, should speak to me;
a sign they are; a clue--
'twill be ok, for her and me!
Have faith! This will pass too!

So, I should think of Bam Bam when
sad feelings come my way.
And like the train, they'll rumble off--
and all will be OK!
