Sometimes
Don't Add A Period

by DR Varg

At times the need is absolute
to halt the current trend;
...decide to go no further;
"Here is where the thoughts should end!"

I wrote about this strategy
and how it can compel
a train of thought from heading t'wards
a place where guilt will swell! *

And I have used this stated plan
a lot, I must confess!
But now I sense the benefit
of lettin' things progress!

I'm often still reminded of
the era spent with Col;
The feelings which consume me
then are far from being small!

It's still a frequent happ'ning too;
she's triggered and so real!
And then I wish I'd seized the day;
expressed the love...did feel!

But soon reality sets in
and I'm so sternly told:
"that opportunity's been lost;
no more to ever hold!"

Ah! Then I'm swallowed in a cloud
of melancholy blues;
But now I sense I'm not just stuck;
...can move on. I can choose!

It can be placed--the period;
I can, it here, locate!
Or let things budge and slip into
a more appealing state!

In former times, I had no choice;
this snare was now my home
(6.88K)
until I processed all these thoughts
through authoring a poem.

But now I have more options, and
to that, I'm so alert!
My thoughts aren't stuck; with me consumed
in sadness, loss and hurt!

And this is such a worthy clue;
it holds such value--gain!
My thoughts sail on and lo! I sense
I've left behind the pain!

I find myself now thinkin' bout;
the next stage, which did dawn;
discov'ring that I'm holding it;
the former muse is gone!

I needn't fear that former path;
Yes! grief is sparked alas!
but just accept it; let it hit;
and sense, "this too shall pass!"

Have faith the central focus will
meander somewhere new;
and soon you'll find the sun will shine!
The sky above's all blue!

spinning sun (2.77K)
And then it's nice--the state is fine!
the clouds are gone--dispersed!
But t'wouldn't be if stopped, I did
and dwelled on it; immersed

myself in sorrow, woe, regret;
and let it be my fate!
It hurts I know but re-a-lize
this ain't your final state!

So, sometimes stopping in your tracks
is good advice to take;
but sometimes heading onward
is the choice we yes! should make.

And how d'we know which course to choose?
Who'll guide us on our routes?
By list'ning to our heart we'll know!
(there are no absolutes!)

So, just have faith. The path that's right,
to-wards it, we'll get spinned.
The guiding force is in our sight;
it's blowin' in the wind.
