Ten PM 2002
2.4K by DR Varg 2.4K

The year is new; a threshold crossed;
I've made it through this door!
My wish was: now it's time to feel
her impact on me: o'er.

She was so bright as last year waned;
but this, I did expect.
The one year anniver-sar-y
of loss has this effect.

So, she was present constantly
as last year peaked and closed
but I accepted this. And so
upon, din't feel imposed.

I gave her the attention
she requested and compelled;
...and thought, "Now! this'll do it--
she'll be settled; she'll be quelled! "

But she's not absent, missing;
she does visit still, my skull.
The time we shared, then vivid;
not a mem'ry distant--dull!

And it can then seem start'ling;
"Will this never ever pass?"
"When will this all be over?"
"And I'm through with it, Alas?"

But losses aren't like puzzles;
"When's the final piece in place?"

The journey's long, with phases;
and the bumps we just must face!

But, yes! it helps to recollect
the hurdles, we've addressed;
review the cliffs, which have been climbed
and now are fine; at rest!

And recognize those hills were once
an obstacle so great!
but now are leveled; orderly;
no more, upon my plate!

Avow...this state's agreeable;
and it will find those, too
which seem today, this heavy weight--
ya just can not subdue!

And it's consoling, this to sense.
It helps us yes! to cope!
There's evidence we've gotten through;
which does encourage hope!

I wrote about the impact strong
which struck like clockwork when
I was at home and saw the clock;
And Oh! it now was ten!

"But now, when home at ten P.M.
the phone is ever still."
"It just seems right for Col to call.
I guess it always will!"

I never thought that it would pass;
when that time didn't ROAR
lion roaring (10.4K)
a loud reminder--she was gone.
But it does that no more!

Today, I sensed and recognized;
this impact disappeared.
I hadn't felt the loss in years
when ten PM; it neared!

A fine example this should be;
I never should forget
that painful states get worked through, yes!
And, peaceful states are met!
