A Walk With Whitney
dog walking (5.5K) by Dave Varg dog walking (5.5K)

I was walking with my greyhound by the river
when a scene appeared which captured, fast my eye.
...Saw a couple hug; between them not a sliver.
And I thought of you...just happened; didn't try.
This reminded me of all our hugs, so tender.
I could feel your body safe in my embrace;
with my cares and thoughts all fleeing in surrender
to this focus which my senses, now did face.

As my eyes saw these two people wrapped together,
my reflections traveled swiftly, right to
YOU (4K)

And these stayed with me as though kept on a tether.
And I felt the joy once more upon review.

All my senses were alive and were partaking
at the serving of this feast inside my brain.
Yes the picture was so vivid-in the making;
they were us it seemed; the image clear and plain!

I could feel the closeness as, you I was holding
and I smiled as off, this mem'ry would not shut.
Then my fingers sensed your presence, now unfolding.
And my nose was blessed with wafts of coconut.

It is nice to see a sight, like I was viewing
and relate it to good feelings that I own.
In the past, this course I failed to be pursuing,
as the sight would make me feel so all-alone.

Then a thought came forth and struck, like by an arrow.
(4.2K)

My response was new-it seems I did forget
to pursue the path; the normal one-so narrow
that brought back those recollections of Colette.

But, now here were two young people wrapped up tightly
and it spurred in me a twinkling in my eye.
But I soon was jostled by a tug, not lightly.
And so off we went; a happy dog and guy.
