C1 COBs

You will need a program to extract the COB's files from the .zip file that it comes in; if you do not have WinZip installed on your computer, please go download it now. If the files are not listed in WinZip as having specific folders as their destination, then please individually extract the files to their proper spots or move them after unzipping the whole thing. In C1, .cob and .rcb files go in the main Creatures directory, .wav files go in the Sounds folder, and .spr files go in the Images folder. Also, be sure to read the .txt file that comes with each COB before injecting it. If a COB does not work for you, the most likely reason is that a file is in the wrong folder.

If your copy of C1 does not have an Object Injector (the icon looks like three circles - red, blue, and green - together), then check Help | About Creatures in the tool bar. If the version is not 1.0.2 or higher, go to CyberLife's site and first download and install the Creatures upgrade to at least 1.0.2 or higher. Then download the Object Injector from their website. If you have at least 1.02 or higher already, simply download and install the injector.

Food

Finally, something that's better for grendels than it is for norns! Martha Brummett of Bonadrey Nornery and RudeDog, of The Island of Dr. Rude Dog, are responsible for a can of Spam that's more nutritious for grendels than for norns. (Spam is a trademark of the Hormel Company.)

Toys

A cute, plush grendel toy for your norns or grendels to cuddle, from Ali Maggs at Albia 2000. It can soothe both norns and grendels by helping to reduce loneliness and boredom, and will make them a little sleepy, too.

Grendel-Tending:

The Grendel-friendly COB, when injected, will make sure that grendels will only hit when they mean to (instead of even hitting when they want to kiss, like they do normally), and will be able to breed if you use fertile grendels. Courtesy of Kinnison at Kinnison's Creatures Pages.

Grendel Trapping:

	Grendel Trap will capture and cage the grendel - please give him toys to play with and food to eat if you use this and don't want to be cruel. Created by Slink.
(No image)	A Grendel Cage is from Mark Boehler. This captures the grendel in the garden and then pulls him up into the air. The grendel can be released, too.

Grendel-Scaring:

Cyberlife released a "Creatures Life Kit #1" (the only Life Kit that was released), which included a Grendel Scarer. It will evidently send the grendel back up into the trees, near where it hatched, when you zap it. You can buy and download the Life Kit directly from Cyberlife, or see if you can find it in a software store. No, it can't be downloaded for free from anywhere. The Life Kit also includes various COBs and norn species that aren't available anywhere else.

Grendel-Removing:

The Grendel Exporter will simply export the grendel from your world, so it isn't as violent as some of the grendel-removing methods. From Stefan Kuske.

Grendel-Killing:

(No image)	Grendel Guard is a COB that searches for a grendel, and takes you to it so you can watch it die. Created by Slink.
	Grendel-X is a grendel-specific poison COB; norns aren't harmed by it. The grendel must eat this poisoned food for it to work. Created by Slink.
	Grendel Killing Machine will kill the grendel and then self-destruct. From Stefan Kuske.
	Grendel Machine Toxin will get rid of grendels and their "mother" for good. From Stefan Kuske.
