 The Truth About Grendels

_________

(Note: If you have no idea what Creatures is, visit the official webpage for more information.)

This site supports C1

From the Creatures game manual, p. 20:

You may have already witnessed an encounter with a Grendel. These green skinned red eyed monsters are evil and have a different genetic makeup than the Norns. They love to steal food and beat up the Norns. It is advised to stay away from them as much as possible since they carry diseases that can seriously damage your Norns' health.

From the book Official Creatures Strategies and Secrets, p. 6:

They excrete deadly poison and carry a whole world of viruses and bacteria.
(On p. 22 of the Creatures game manual, the poison in question is noted to be glycotoxin.)

From the Creatures 2 game box:

The bad news - a dangerous breed of Grendels is now free to spread disease and cause disaster.

From the Creatures 2 game manual, p. 27:

And now there is a new even more vicious species of Grendel loose!

Guess what? These statements basically aren't true. Find out more about what grendels are really like in Creatures (1) or Creatures 2 by visiting the appropriate part of this site.

(Besides, they're cute in a lizard-like way, and the deep chuckle when one is tickled is neat, so they can't be all bad. :) )

You can find lots of things to breed/control/kill/etc. grendels on these pages. I use the following icons to indicate important things:

  • :) This is something that is good for grendels, or pro-grendel.
  • :( This is something that is bad for grendels, or anti-grendel. I do not mark things that only trap, scare, or remove grendels with this, as those aren't so bad.

Want to use some of these images? You may use the two grendels at the top of the page, and the "This site supports C1" image as long as you copy the image to your own server (do not just put in a link to them from your page) and do not claim that you created them. It'd also be awfully nice if you'd credit me and link to my page, but not necessary. The "support C1" image is intended for sites to display if they are committed to keeping information/COBs/utilities/creatures/etc. for Creatures 1 on the web; please use it only if this is your intent. You can find out more about how to get images for your Creatures page.

If you would like to post them on webpages or Usenet, or even just put an image up on your webpage, contact their creators and ask first. Do not link directly to any of them as an alternative to putting them on your own server. If you have problems with a file, contact the creator of it; I have given contact information for each.
