Meditation
Group
The Meditation Group requires no sign-up or ongoing commitment other than the one you may choose to make for yourself. Meditation practice can be a way to increase your awareness, a relaxation tool, a benefit to health or a way to enhance your spiritual development. Meditation in a group often provides other benefits such as increased energy and dedication to continuing the practice. The people who participate in the Meditation Group all help to lead and share in the tasks that helps it to continue. Please enter the Sitting Room in silence between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m. on Monday evenings. During this time, meditation music is played. Select a comfortable place to sit and help yourself to a pillow or back support that can be found in the corner. At 7:00 p.m., the meditation practice may change to guided instruction or imagery. At times, the group has done walking meditations and other techniques from the Asian, American Indian and Hindu traditions. Most often, the Meditation session ends with approximated 10 minutes of silence. Afterwards, there is on opportunity to discuss the meditation experience. This group allows you to try different approaches to meditation. Whether you have tried to meditate before or not, you are welcome to attend the Meditation Group on any Monday evening.
