Schuco toys from Germany are now very valuable! Schuco made many interesting tin toys such as cars, motorcycles, alpine cable cars, and animal figures. The Smith auction house in Eliot, Maine (listed on my initial home page) holds auctions of rare Schuco toys from time to time.

What may be surprising is that Schuco is still in business, and they are remanufacturing a number of their 1950s and 1960s toys. You can buy these modern remakes from:

Lilliput Motor Company, P.O. Box 447, Yerington, NV 89447, Phone 1-800-TIN-TOYS

(You would have seen Lilliput's catalog cover) Lilliput issues a very nice little catalog containing many Schuco toys, as well as numerous other tin toys from European manufacturers, including those wonderful Wilesco real-steam engines (the boiler and fly-wheel types, not railroad locomotives). Call Lilliput for a free catalog!

(You would have seen Lilliputs catalog backpage) Look at the charming illustration on the rear cover of the catalog showing the box art on an O-gauge tinplate train that is made in Czechoslovakia. Cute but expensive!

The prices may be shocking; most items begin at $100 and many are $200 to $300. However, they are beautiful remakes of classic tin toys, and the quality is outstanding.

From a recent posting on rec.antiques.marketplace, here's a fellow with a lot of Schuco toys available:
