St. Lucia Day is celebrated on the 13th of December. Girls would dress in long white gowns with red sashes and would wear crowns of candles in their hair. There is a procession of other children holding candles and they all sing traditional Lucia carols.
This pattern is for a loose fitting dress with a red sash. It has a round neckline trimmed with lace and a dropped shoulder which is traditional of Scandinavian folk wear. The cuffs are trimmed with lace. The dress opens with a back slit with a button closure. |
