The major purposes of the SGF are to fund summer camp and other scholarships for children of great disadvantage and need (i.e., children exposed to domestic violence, children who are homeless or are refugees, etc.); strengthen community in Newton and other areas (i.e., create sports and civic leadership opportunities, awards and scholarships for youth, and eventually build a much needed community ice rink in Newton); and foster leadership and advocacy capacity in young people through partnerships with other worthy organizations and groups. Steve had already shown interest in these ideas before he died. We are certain he would have continued to stand for them, if he only had the chance.
The Steve Glidden Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The foundation has no paid staff and minimal expenses. It is operated entirely with volunteer help and donated supplies, and without commercial marketing, so that virtually every dollar donated is directed to the foundation's mission, and not to operating, fund raising or other overhead costs (except for postage). Contributions to the SGF are tax-deductible.
We would like to keep you informed about what the SGF is doing by sending you updates and a periodic newsletter. If at all possible, we'd like to get this information to you electronically, in order to save on both postage and trees. Therefore, PLEASE SEND US AN EMAIL to let us know know if we may contact you via email, rather than by U.S. Mail. We WILL NOT release your name or any other identifying or contact information to any third party (including dreaded spam and telemarketing operations).
