Scottish Blackface Sheep

Orion and Principio resting up till next years breeding.

We are privileged to own a fine flock of these beautiful and distinctive sheep. At this time we have six breeding ewes

This is Dewali a lovely ewe with a lot of personality. Dewali gave us a lovely ewe lamb this spring, who is just like her mother.

We also have two magnificent rams.

Orion is exceptional in many ways, but what struck me from the first is his amazingly gentle nature, something that has never changed over the past three years or during breeding season!

Caledonia.

Caledonia, my favorite ewe if I had to choose, looking rather scornful.

Rosemary and Shallot.

Both Rosemary and Shallot are 1998 ewe lambs, two of the four we kept.

Our sheep came from the wonderful farm of Jim and Roz Finn, Maple Avenue Farm in S. Strafford VT. ‘Scotties’ are majestic and noble. In our experience they are intelligent and easy to live with. They have lovely thick fleeces that make INDESTRUCTABLE socks, long wearing sweaters that are exceptionally warm. Also it makes fine rugs. Scottie wool is used in Harris Tweed. The sheep are hardy and immune to our cold NH winters. As ewes, they are wonderful mothers, and defensive guardians of their lambs.

Orion's son and daughter out of Artemis.
