Objective: Search the web to find a suitable picture of an assigned animal (in my case, I was assigned a ferret). Use Adobe Illustrator to turn the illustration into a bitmap using only 3 exact complimentary colors. Once created, reduce the picture in size to create a computer icon. Exaggerate the animal's distinctive features so that it is still discernable as such when the size is reduced. Analysis: This project was an assignment for a foundation digital design course at DePaul University. This was my first draft and admittedly not the best choice of a ferret picture to use. When reduced in size, the icon could just as easily represent a cat or a rodent. I chose a second picture for my final draft and started over (see Ferret Icon 1).
