Program
Exit Art / The First World presented Conspiracies 1994, the seventh annual series which features new experimental films by New York-based independent filmmakers. This year's program included over 45 films and video, with 14 premieres and a selection of live performances.
CONSPIRACIES is critically recognized as the film series with outrageousness of spirit and sharp discernment in presenting a curated summary of the year's most exciting experimental films.
Some of the highlights for Conspiracies 1994 were: the New York premiere of Lewis Klahr's The Pharaoh's Belt; the premiere screening of Leslie Thornton's The Last Time I Saw Ron, a film remembrance and tribute to actor Ron Vawter, who died this spring; Craig Baldwin whose past films include TRIBULATIONS 99, will introduce excerpts from his film in progress Sonic Outlaws. Live performances included: Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth with Leah Singer in a multimedia performance for voice, guitar, video and multiple film projectors; and puppet theater director Janie Geiser who performed excerpts from Evidence Of Floods.
