More walking

I forgot to mention that we ended up walking all the way home from Fenway Park yesterday. We didn't set out to do it, but one small decision lead to another, and we ended up doing it. We left the game, and it was way too nice outside to immediately crowd into the T. So rather than walking toward Back Bay, we walked the opposite way, crossed the B.U. Bridge into Cambridge, and ended up in Central Square. At that point, we were hungry. We headed toward Harvard Square, and nothing really fit the bill, so we kept walking to Cambridge Common, which is a favorite restaurant just past the actual Cambridge Common. At that point, the closest T stop was Porter Square which is only one stop away from the Davis Square stop, and the walk is shorter than waiting for a weekend-schedule train.

So today, we ended up going to the Ipswitch River Audubon wildlife sanctuary. We had actually been there before. Very beautiful; lots of big glacial rocks and land formations, swamps, streams. Very quiet, too, and not crawling with people. Spent all afternoon walking the trails.

Almost autumn

Helmecki didn't want to admit it yesterday, but it really feels undeniably like early autumn today. Bright, a little bit cool, clear. A lot like the early fall weather we had on our wedding day.

Tim was up because I got pretty good tickets to yesterday's Red Sox games against the Mariners. Good game; kind of a nail-biter at the end. I was secretly kind of excited to see Ichiro, but he wasn't in for most of the game; just one at bat at the end, which was probably better for the outcome of the game, where we really just squeaked by. It was a good day to go to the ball park, too; nice sunny, big puffy clouds at first turning into solid blue, and hotter than today.

We were planning on doing something outside today since it's so nice, and Katherine called up and asked if we wanted to go to a nature preserve that she found when she was on the way to our wedding reception in Topsfield after she left the church. Which sounded perfect. She should be here soon, so I'm going to finish this up and put on some shoes.
