INTRODUCTION

Electricity powers many things. What is it? How does it work? As you explore this webquest you will learn the answers to these and many more questions about electicity. This webquest is an interactive site for 3rd or 4th graders that explores the basics of electricity. After exploring this webquest, you will learn what electricity is, the different types of electricity as well as safety rules involving electricity. Good luck exploring and have fun!

TASK

Congratulations! You have just been chosen for a space mission to the planet Zodor. Your mission is to teach the aliens that live on the planet about electricity. They have never heard of it before. You must teach them what it is and how to use it safely.

PROCESS

Your teacher will divide you into groups of three or four. You must explore all of the websites and decide as a group which topic on you would like to teach to the aliens. The topics are numbered below:

After you have checked out all of the websites, you must decide which question you would like to answer.

Now that you have picked your question, you can start gathering information and graphics or pictures. Your group must design some type of presentation, using the computer if you wish, to show the class and the aliens from Zodor what you have learned.

You may use any resources available to you,such as books, encyclopedias or websites. Each group must include five safety rules about electricity. Good luck!

EVALUATION

Now that you have finished, ask yourself the following questions to be sure you have done a wonderful project.

1.Will the aliens be able to understand what electricity is and how it works?

2.Will the aliens be able to use electricity safely?


CONCLUSION

Great job! Thanks to you and your team, the aliens from Zodor will now know all about electricity. They will understand that atoms are needed to create electicity, that circuits must be used to make a light bulb light up, and that electrical safety is important for everyone.You may now return home safely.
