Drink Water, Inhale Dust

If you've been to Burning Man before, but sat out this year, you missed a dusty year. A very dry spring and summer resulted in a "crufty" playa surface. When stepped on for the first time, it kinda crunched underneath your foot the way crusty snow did when you tried to balance atop it as a kid. Instantly it turned to microscopic dust. Dust -- as you know -- sucks.
Everyone was really good about trying to keep the dust down. Black Rock Rangers reduced the speed limit within the confines of the city to try to reduce the dust, but to no avail. Most people went the speed limit or below
The water trucks just couldn't keep up with the dusty roads, despite being on a much more frequent schedule. Dust dunes formed where the wind took the silty particles. Dust devils floated around the city and out of the Man while he burned. My friend Britton caught this on video!
People found very creative ways to keep the dust out of their mouths, lungs, faces, food and off their feet. Get a load of the very creative footwear print we found on Enlightenment.
