Are we too busy and overwhelmed to think about "wellness"? There is an exciting new project in the Hartford Public Schools that will begin in September, 2002. The Get Healthy Hartford program is designed to provide wellness programs in the schools so it is more convenient for staff and parents to learn and participate in healthful activities.

You will receive a wellness survey which we would like you to complete and return by September 30th so the committee can determine what programs you would like in your schools. The survey should be returned to Susan Davis in the Food Services and Nutrition Education Department.

The Get Healthy Hartford committee is a diverse group of individuals with various skills- Jeannette Belfield (Health Services); Ellen Benham (Physical Education); Gail Bunce (Health Services); Pam Clark (Health Services); Cheryl Daniels (Employee Assistance); Susan Davis (Food Services); Diane Dimmock (Dental Health); Pat Brett (Psychological Services); Deborah Fournier, (Food Services); Winston Johnson (Social Work) Vic Neumann (Health Education); Pat Sullivan (Health Services); and Kristen Jablonka (New England Dairy and Food Council). Many of the members attended the Connecticut Department of Education's Fit, Eager and Ready to Learn conference in April and returned with ideas about implementing a wellness program in our schools.
