Quote: "Fans of true country music will do well to tailgate behind Karen Collins' tail lights."

“ Karen Collins will never be mistaken for one of those contemporary country singers who either tries to pass herself off as a rock chick with a Southern accent or a hillbilly diva. No, she sticks to the straight country, no chaser.

She sings these songs with a sweet, little girl voice; one that is somewhat like Julie Miller's vocal style or a less aged Emmylou Harris. But even nice girls get angry now and again, which is a side Collins reveals during a cover of Waylon Jennings' "Only Mama That'll Walk the Line." Heck, she even yodels convincingly on "Guitar Queen."

This disc is mostly comprised of heartbreaking honky tonk shuffles, although Collins also finds room to cover the old "Sentimental Journey," and includes an instrumental titled "Half Moon Shuffle."

Fans of true country music will do well to tailgate behind Karen Collins' tail lights. ”
