The Eyes of a Child

Gleaming with life

Sparkling like diamonds

Twinkling like stars above

Eyes that are wide open

Eyes that need our guidance

Eyes that we can guide

Eyes of our making

And hopefully won't destroy

Is the shining, sparking

Eyes of a child?

Broken Promises

We promised

To love and cherish

Until our departure

here on earth

Our promise to each other was carved

in stone and placed in our hearts

for safe keeping

But our life together

Brought forth stormy weather,

And the promises we made to

Each other turned to sand

And blew away.
