Cray Communications, Inc., Copenhagen, Denmark and Annapolis Junction, Maryland is the U.S. operation of Cray Electronics Holdings PLC, a $424 million electronics and communications company headquartered in the U.K. The Danish division develops and manufactures local area networking products and markets them worldwide. The U.S. operation does the same with wide area network products.

With nearly 80 percent of its sales outside the United States, Cray Communications had little name identification in its largest potential market.

In fact, it often was confused with Cray Research, the supercomputer maker.

g·m gave Cray Communications immediate recognition with an advertising campaign that featured the comic strip Dilbert, a favorite of engineers.

Overnight, Cray's leads went from a few dozen to several hundered a month....
