On Sunday afternoon, we held our first annual BHNA fall cookout. The event was held on the old Hancock School playground site, at the base of Belfry Hill on Clarke Street. The food was excellent, the company delightful, and the weather perfect. Well over sixty people attended, including a good cross-section of the neighborhood, both members and non-members. While adults conversed and prepared food, children explored Belfry Hill. Attractions included an engine from the Lexington Fire Department, two cruisers from the Lexington Police, and a rather impressive hawk that chose to review the events from its perch on the Old Belfry. The BHNA would like to thank everyone who helped make this event such a great success: The volunteers who brought food and cleaned up, Ofcs Leyne and Veno from the Police Department, and Lieut. Sencebaugh and his crew from the central fire station. We also send a special thanks to Chris Bateman, the manager of Vinny Testa's Restaurant, on Waltham St in Lexington, who donated an amazing selection of food.
