---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 14 Nov 2002 09:01:53 -0500 From: p.enrich@neu.edu To: lex-tmma@yahoogroups.com Subject: [lex-tmma] Rescheduled Hanscom ESPR Hearing As many of you are aware, last Thursday's scheduled public hearing on MassPort's draft Hanscom Environmental Status and Planning Report was postponed, due to the extraordinary turnout of many hundreds of concerned citizens. The hearing room, with seating capacity for some 200 people, was hopelessly inadequate to accomodate the crowds. So, it was decided to reschedule the hearing until a more adequate space was available. The rescheduled hearing will take place next Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 PM at the Bedford High School Auditorium. The High School is located on Mudge Road, which is off of the Great Road (4/225) just beyond the Bedford town center and fire station, and just before the fork where Rt. 62 heads off toward Concord. Please note that the hearing has been scheduled to begin at 7, not 7:30, in light of the high volume of anticipated public comment. The huge turnout at last week's hearing sends a terribly important message to the environmental regulatory agencies, to MassPort, and to our elected representatives (including, among others, Gov.-elect Romney and the Congressional delegation). It appends a gigantic exclamation point to all of the substantive and procedural concerns that will ultimately be raised at the hearing. We need to continue to send this message about the breadth and depth of community concerns about MassPort's reckless expansion of Hanscom. So, I hope that all of you who came last week will be back next Tuesday, along with many more. Finally, please note that the Town of Bedford, in anticipation of large crowds next Tuesday, has made two requests of those who attend: First, they ask you to car-pool whenever possible, since parking is likely to be a problem. Second, they encourage those who can to arrive early (say, 6:15 or 6:30) to allow for an orderly flow of people and vehicles and for a prompt start of the hearing. I look forward to seeing many of you at the hearing. -- Peter Enrich
